About Hervé

Hervé Himbaza grew up watching malnutrition and food insecurity affect people around him — a problem he believed had a practical, affordable solution. As a sustainability advocate and climate activist through the Planeteer Alliance, he has dedicated his work to the intersection of nutrition, environment, and enterprise. As Co-Founder of Gre-Pa Mushrooms, Hervé leads production, marketing, and community outreach — driven by a purpose that extends beyond business: improving lives through accessible nutrition and decent work.

About Gre-Pa Mushrooms (Green Planet Alliance)

Gre-Pa Mushrooms is a youth-led agribusiness in Kinyinya, Rwanda, producing high-quality oyster mushrooms as an affordable, nutritious alternative to expensive protein sources. Fresh mushrooms are supplied to households, restaurants, hotels, and markets across Kigali, directly addressing malnutrition in low-income communities. Beyond production, Gre-Pa trains community members in mushroom farming, supports youth employment, and creates income opportunities for single mothers. The venture is also expanding into value-added products — mushroom powder and dried mushrooms — to increase accessibility and reduce waste. Driven by a mission to fight malnutrition, reduce unemployment, and promote sustainable agriculture, Gre-Pa Mushrooms is building a healthier, more food-secure Rwanda one harvest at a time.
