About Esther​
Esther is a 19-year-old aspiring architect and entrepreneur from Nigeria. She is a junior student studying Architecture in Covenant University. She is passionate about designing and manufacturing furniture pieces. ​
Transition into Entrepreneurship​
The lockdown served as a catalyst for Esther to start designing furniture. She started posting designs online on social media and to her surprise, some people contacted her to ask her for the possibility to manufacture the furniture for them. Esther started the business from scratch with zero capital. She got support from colleagues and her parents who gave her the freedom to pursue her dreams.​
Business Profile​
Esther is the founder of Jemai Interiors which sells long-lasting furniture pieces and architecture materials. They also render interior designs and offer 3D visualizations services to other architecture companies and individuals. The 3 main products are: Work desks, Ink pens and Beds. They sell most of the furniture pieces they produce in Lagos and most of their architectural materials in Ogun State. Jemai is also a brand for architecture students drawing materials. She sells drafting materials to architecture students at an affordable rate. COVID-19 was an opportunity for Esther’s business to thrive. Because of lockdowns, people needed handy and strong reading and working furniture and that’s what she capitalized on during this period. Esther aims to be one of the leading design and furniture manufacturing in Nigeria.
