About Adeleke

A passionate young entrepreneur in the field of agriculture, Adéléké earned two scientific baccalaureate degrees in 2019 and 2020. As a recipient of the Mastercard Foundation scholarship, he studied plant production sciences and techniques at the University of Abomey-Calavi. He was honoured with the Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship on Entrepreneurship (Queen’s Innovation Centre, Canada), where he obtained certification in product innovation and customer relationship management, further enhancing his entrepreneurial acumen.

Transition into Entrepreneurship

Adéléke’s journey into entrepreneurship began with his deep passion for agriculture and commitment to sustainable development. His entrepreneurial spirit was honed when he obtained certification in product innovation and customer relationship management. These experiences equipped him with the skills and knowledge needed to address the pressing issues faced by the agricultural sector in Benin.

Recognizing the detrimental impact of synthetic fertilisers on soil health and agricultural productivity, particularly in Pobè, Adéléké founded Bio Planet TMC. His vision was to produce organic fertiliser that would enhance soil fertility and agricultural yields sustainably. Under his leadership, the company has rapidly grown, reaching significant milestones. Adéléké’s innovative approach and dedication to sustainable agriculture have positioned Bio Planet TMC as a key player in addressing both agricultural and socio-economic challenges in Benin, making a lasting impact on the community and the environment.

Business Profile

In 2021, the Beninese government acknowledged a decline in income and industrial productivity within agriculture, largely due to soil depletion caused by the frequent use of synthetic fertilisers, which have detrimental effects on soil health. Pobè, in particular, has been severely impacted, with studies revealing that approximately 90% of agricultural land in the municipality exhibits very low fertility levels. With a population exceeding 123,740 inhabitants, Pobè faces significant challenges. This is where Bio Planet TMC comes in – enhancing agricultural yields through the promotion of organic farming.

Bio planet TMC is an agricultural company based in Pobè, Republic of Benin. The company specialises in the production of granulated organic fertiliser derived from recycled biodegradable waste. This initiative addresses the challenges of declining agricultural productivity faced by farmers in the Pobè municipality. The company’s vision is to establish itself as the premier producer of large granulated organic fertiliser in Benin and Africa by 2030. To realise this vision, they aim to meet the majority of the fertiliser requirements of farmers in the municipality of Pobè. Within 2 to 5 years, they anticipate significant outcomes from their production activities, including the recycling of over 1,250 tons of biodegradable waste.
