    About Athingahangwi

Athingahagwi is a 21-year-old medical student at the University of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. She is a multi-passionate individual whose interests are in entrepreneurship, medicine, and the arts. Her interest in making her community better led her to create two entrepreneurial endeavors at an early age, Athing’s Corner and The Blackboard Healthcare. She wants to decentralize healthcare in South Africa, use her art for good, and ensure she is the change she wants to see in the world. During her spare time, she is a leader in a few clubs and societies at university.

    Transition into entrepreneurship

Athingahangwi has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. After graduating from high school at the age of 18 she started her business, Athinga’s corner, a restaurant, and catering company. From there, she went on to co-found The Blackboard Healthcare a non-profit organization aimed at helping young people learn more about the health sector. Her experience as a medical student marked her interest in ensuring equal healthcare, especially for those in marginalized areas.

    Business Profile

In 2018, Athingahangwi founded her business Athinga’s Corner, a restaurant and catering company that provides nutritious food daily to university students, especially those living in self-catering residences and communes. The business provides quality local South African food, good services for its customers, as well as an enjoyable experience at an affordable rate. The company has also developed an online ordering system and made use of Uber Eats to cater to the needs of customers and deliver food to the doorstep. Athingahangwi hopes to expand the reach of the business by opening multiple Athinga’s Corner in several universities across South Africa.
