About Oumar
Oumar Sow is a young entrepreneur from Felian Village in Guinea. It seems that his journey to becoming an entrepreneur was inevitable. From an early age, Oumar was introduced to entrepreneurship through his father who ran a business. With an acute understanding of the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, Oumar wanted to take the risk and follow in his father’s footsteps. Interested in making sure people had access to good quality food and ending hunger in his village, agriculture became his way of giving back to the community that supported him and his family. He is the founder of Felian Tradiag, an agricultural project that produces rice and cassava. Oumar hopes to create more job opportunities for young people in his community.
Transition into Entrepreneurship
Oumar noticed that not only was his community not accessing healthy food but they were experiencing a high volume of food shortage due to lack of land to farm on and poor-quality farming techniques. He decided to start his business in 2018 after dropping out of a technical college due to his family being unable to pay the fees. As the founder of Felian Trading, Oumar’s leadership skills are apparent as he manages the day-to-day activities to ensure the business runs smoothly.
Business profile
Oumar is the founder of Felian Trading. Felian Trading limited is an agricultural project that cultivates rice and cassava to sell to customers at a lower cost. He sells the products to the local community in his village. In the next five years, the business plans to cultivate more land to increase production and open stores to increase sales. Oumar’s vision is to create an effective and reliable agricultural project which will continue to have a presence in the community and produce large quality and quantity products for the Felian communities and beyond. With projects like his in existence, he hopes that the government will provide more support for young farmers and encourage young people to pursue agriculture.
