The growing need to support his father was one of the many reasons why Mamadjang Jallow created his agricultural business, Jallow Trading. At the age of 15, Mamadjang became acutely aware of the need for more jobs and gainful employment in his home country, The Gambia.
After attending entrepreneurship seminars and receiving $200 from his parents, it seemed almost natural that he would follow in his father’s footsteps of farming.
Now at 21 years old, Mamadjang founded Jallow Trading. The small scale horticultural gardening venture produces a wide variety of fruits and vegetables which he sells to vendors and households around his region. The enterprise has recently expanded its product offering to poultry.
Always thinking about improvement and the next step, Mamadjang and his team are implementing practices that enable their farm activities to continue throughout the year, which means they can supply the market around the clock. Jallow Trading also produces organic pesticides/insecticides and offers a line of credit to their most loyal customers.
