Born and raised in Johannesburg, Amanda Jojo is hard at working turning her lifelong love for coffee into a viable enterprise.
She founded The Trea Garden, an upscale cafe providing high quality coffee and accompaniments in a relaxing atmosphere. Amanda started the cafe with a view to combine her passion for food and beverage with entrepreneurship to help contribute to creating employment opportunities in South Africa— a country grappling with unsustainable levels of youth unemployment.
Amanda sees her business as an avenue to help youth and women make an honest and fair wage while learning transferable skills. In addition, Amanda uses her business to support young creatives–regularly inviting young musicians and artists to perform and sell their art in the space. At just 21, Amanda was recently named the best student entrepreneur at the Global Entrepreneurship student awards in Cape Town, and was selected to represent South Africa in Germany at the same forum.
Amanda has set her sights on opening a second branch of the Trea Garden very soon, and aims to employ at least a dozen more employees.
