About Adama

Adama Kanté is a young 22-year-old Malian. He is passionate about inspiring young people to start their own businesses by utilising resources they have access to. Outside of the for-profit ventures that he has started, he is the founder of the Samedis pour l’entrepreneuriat movement in Mali and a representative of an international organization of young people committed to sustainable development (OJEDD International) in Mali. Being members of these organisations allow Adama to encourage his peers to pursue entrepreneurship to solve local challenges.

Transition into Entrepreneurship

Adama’s business idea started in 2015, in high school, when he was 14 years old. He was motivated by the agricultural production of lettuce that he was involved in at home. He would wake up at 5 am every day to water his vegetables and then go to school. This developed his passion for farming and led him to join the Agriprofocus organisation in Mali which allowed him to meet and network with other farmers in Togo, Burkina Faso and Benin. This led him to start Food Sante.

The business sells their products in Mali and recently started distribution in other regions such as the Ivory Coast and Senegal. Adama established this business to solve food insecurity in Mali.
