We asked the parents of our Anzisha fellows Munyaradzi Makosa (Zimbabwe), Jovia Nassuna Kintu (Uganda) and Tafadzwa Chikwereti (Zimbabwe) for some tips and advice on how to support and nurture your child’s entrepreneurial journey. WATCH this video to hear what they had to say.
- Cultivate their passion: Encourage your child to explore their interests and find what they are passionate about. Help them identify their strengths and guide them towards activities and opportunities that align with their passions.
- Provide resources and opportunities: Offer your child access to books, online courses, workshops, and mentorship programs that can enhance their entrepreneurial skills and knowledge.
- Encourage open communication: Create an environment where your child feels comfortable sharing their ideas and taking risks. Providing constructive feedback will help them grow and improve.
- Connect with other young entrepreneurs: Encourage your child to network and connect with other young entrepreneurs. This can be done through local entrepreneurship clubs, online communities, or attending conferences and events. Surrounding themselves with like-minded individuals can provide inspiration and support.
- Celebrate milestones and successes: Recognize and celebrate your child’s achievements along their entrepreneurial journey. This will boost their confidence and motivation to continue pursuing their goals.
Remember, every child is unique, and their entrepreneurial journey may vary. It’s important to listen to your child, understand their needs, and adapt your support accordingly.
